Andy Murray lost against Felix Auger-Aliassime in Rotterdam after putting forward a lacklustre performance and it's left him disappointed.
Murray is trying to elevate his game to an even higher level as he believes it's possible however he will need stable coaching in order to do so. That is his belief which is why he called the current situation where he istrialling a few coaches in the next few weeks 'less than ideal. Murray split with his long-term coach Jamie Delgado ahead of the 2022 season before ending his trial period with Jan de Witt following his Australian Open.
The two-time Wimbledon champion was working alongside former coach
Dani Vallverdu in Rotterdam. The
Venezuelan, who is currently coaching Stan Wawrinka, will join up with
Murray again in Dubai, but it is only a short-term fix for the
34-year-old. He said:
"I'm just trying to get a more permanent solution so that I can have consistency in terms of the things that I'm working on because having different messages from people who are working with you each week is not ideal."
Speaking on his start to the season Murrray said:
"I really feel like
my tennis can be a lot better. I don't feel like I lost because I was
really struggling with my movement but I believe that my tennis can
improve providing I put in the right work and consistently work on the
right things for a period of time and I believe that will happen. It
probably won't happen overnight because some of the mistakes that I've
been making technically have been probably happening for 18 months or
so, so it takes a bit of time to break those habits. I'll need to put in
a lot of work on them to change that."
