Andy Murray has been a champion of women's rights since the early stages of his career.
Andy Murray was raised by his mother Judy Murray and the Brit always spoke highly both of his mother and woman in general. Murray is a self-described feminist so it's not a wonder that the whole Shuai Peng situation hit him hard. Murray took to Twitter to weigh in on the stiuation writing:
"Female tennis player
Peng Shuai whereabouts are currently unknown after making sexual abuse allegations against Chinese government official. This speech gives us a reminder and some hope that things can change in the future."
The speech Murray referenced in his Tweet was the one that Barbora Krejcikova gave after she won the WTA Finals doubles trophy with Siniakova. Krejcikova remembered some traumatic events in her native country that lead to the fall of communism in the country. Murray's message clearly indicates his hope that things in China will change over time for what he believes is better.
