Rafael Nadal is currently training to return to tennis in December at the Mubadala tennis event in Abu Dhabi and the Spaniard is convinced he will return to the top.
It's been a disappointing year for Rafael Nadal who has had to overcome several things in order to win a couple of trophies that he won. Despite that, he has had a disappointing season that was derailed by a foot injury that dates back to 2005. He called time early on his season in order to try and solve the issues and he is currently training to return to competition in December.
In an interview done with former F1 World Champion Nico Rosberg, Nadal said:
“I think everybody has some problems. And especially sports people who bring the mental and physical parts
[of themselves] to the limit. When you get a bit older, the feelings are different in all terms.
But at the same time, even today, I had a very tough period of time in
terms of my foot injury. So I need to come back hopefully by the beginning of next year.”
Nadal also spoke about his confidence level in making a successful return saying that he knows he will be at the top again:
“Of course I’m going to have some doubts, but I know the process, I
have been there plenty of time. It’s true that every time as you get older it gets more difficult
[to recover] but I am very excited by the process and by the things that
I have to do to try to be back."
He finished off with:
“So, even with doubts, I am confident that if I am able to play without much pain, I will have my chances.”
