Andy Murray was cruising towards a comfortable finish against
Jurij Rodionov but rain interfered and we had to wait a few hours for the conclusion but it came in the end 6-3 6-2.
While Novak Djokovic was winning Roland Garros, Andy Murray was winning the Surbiton Challenger. The Brit faced Jurij Rodionov in the final of the event and for the most part, it went the way their match went in Surbiton last year. Murray won that easily in two sets and he won this one easily in two sets.
From the start, it was pretty evident that Murray had all the answers for the matchup with Rodionov struggling with his second serve. He hit his first serve 57 % of the time and when he did he won the overwhelming majority of points. The second serve was pretty different as he won only 4 points on his second serve in the entire match.
Yes, the match only lasted two sets with not many games but still winning only four points out of 18 points played is pretty bad. He faced three break points and didn't save a single one. Murray was pretty strong on his serve as he faced only one break point and saved it. He was good after the first and second serve winning over 60 % behind both. The first serve was even at 80 %.
The match was going smoothly but then was interrupted by rain at 3-1 for Murray in the second set. We had to wait a few hours before it finally resumed and once it did Murray finished things off quickly. It's the second trophy for Murray this year and both came on the Challenger Tour. A good start to his grass campaign this year. Next up is the Nottingham challenger event.
