Former world number one
Andy Roddick has rejected the claim of ex-professional player Christian Alshon about how
pickleball helped him become fitter than tennis.
Pickleball is the most latest format that has gained a lot of popularity amongst tennis fans all over the world, largely because it is more easily accessible for the common public to play compared to traditional tennis.
Alshon recently made an interesting comment where he stated that playing pickleball has increased his stamina more than playing tennis did. "Pickleball has made me a much better athlete than Tennis ever did,” he said. “Faster reaction time and speed are needed since the ball is only coming from 10 feet away. Point for point, pickleball requires more skill than tennis.”
Roddick was quick to respond to that and outrightly rejected the claim and even went on to call pickleball a ‘fun game’ and that
Jack Sock who recently found his way over to Pickleball was ever usurped by a player starting out in the fledgling sport that he would commentate standing on his head.
"It’s pretty hard to say one of the most ridiculous things on Twitter in a given day,” said the one-time Grand Slam winner. “Tell you what. If anyone pickle person ever ranks higher in tennis than what Sock will be at end of this year in his new paid pickle hobby, I’ll commentate a pickle match standing on my head. This ain’t a real discussion. Fun game. Dumb conversation.”
