Polish tennis star Hubert Hurkacz was involved in an
interesting discussion with the chair umpire during the Monte-Carlo Masters.
The 27-year-old is taking part in the ATP 1000 event currently being played in Monaco. In his most recent outing in the round of 32 against Spain’s
Roberto Bautista Agut, he was involved in an interesting discussion with the
chair umpire Richard Haigh who gave him a ball abuse warning by stating: “I
felt like it was a bit of frustration from the previous point."
Those words clearly surprised him who ended up responding by
stating: “The previous point? Are you a psychologist or what? What the hell. So
bad.” Hurkacz ended up registering a comfortable win in straight sets with a
score of 7-5, 7-6. His next-round opponent will be up against Norway’s Casper Ruud.
It will be the third meeting between the two. In the previous
two meetings, both players ended up winning on one occasion. Their first meeting
was at the French Open in 2022 where Ruud came out on top with a score of 6-2,
6-3, 3-6, 6-3. In the second meeting, which took place during the ATP Masters
1000 in Canada, it was Hurkacz who came out on top with a score of 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.
