Australia’s
Alex de Minaur along with America’s duo of
Taylor Fritz and
Tommy Paul will be representing the Team World at the 2024
Laver Cup. The competition will be played on the hard surface in the Uber Arena
of the capital city of Germany, Berlin.
As per the latest development, De Minaur along with Fritz
and Paul will be representing the Team World. They will go up against Team Europe
comprised of the current world number three Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, number-four-ranked Russia’s Daniil Medvedev and Germany’s Alexander Zverev. The Team World will be captained by the former world number
one John McEnroe and seven-time Grand Slam winner John McEnroe. On the other
hand, Team Europe will be captained by the former world number one and 11-time
Grand Slam winner Bjorn Borg. In the 2023 edition of the competition, it was Team
World who came out on top with a score of 13-2.
It was only the second occasion
in the competition where Team World came out on top. In the first four
editions, it was Team Europe who came out on top. It will be the first time
when the competition will be held in Germany. On the previous six occasions, twice
the competition was organised in the USA, whereas once each in Canada, the Czech Republic,
Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
