Aslan Karatsev has been a sensation of the past weeks when the Russian reached the semifinals of the Australian Open and now he has won also his first title.
The 27-years-old Russian waited for his breakthrough, but in 2021 he seems to be one of the best players on Tour. After reaching the semifinals at the 2021 Australian Open, he has won his first title after he defeated Lloyd Harris in the final of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
On his way to the final, Karatsev defeated Gerasimov, Evans, Sonego, Sinner and Rublev. In the final, he faced Lloyd Harris who was not a big hurdle for him. The Russian triumphed 6-3, 6-2 in an hour and 17 minutes to lift his first ATP title.
That means, that he will also move to his new career-high in the ATP Rankings when he will be already 27th highest-ranked player and he is also 5th in the ATP Race to Torino. With Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev ahead of him, the Russians seems to be unstoppable this year as they also lifted the 2021 ATP Cup trophy together.
