On his way to the final, Karatsev defeated Gerasimov, Evans, Sonego, Sinner and Rublev. In the final, he faced Lloyd Harris who was not a big hurdle for him. The Russian triumphed 6-3, 6-2 in an hour and 17 minutes to lift his first ATP title.
That means, that he will also move to his new career-high in the ATP Rankings when he will be already 27th highest-ranked player and he is also 5th in the ATP Race to Torino. With Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev ahead of him, the Russians seems to be unstoppable this year as they also lifted the 2021 ATP Cup trophy together.
