Dubai Tennis Championships appeared in the ATP calendar in 1993, with the modest infrastructure and players' facilities growing ever since to become one of the strongest ATP 500 events. The 2021 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships will be played from 14-20 March.
Many notable players have lifted the trophy in Dubai, including Goran Ivanisevic, Thomas Muster, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal and Stan Wawrinka. However, the two most standout competitors are Roger Federer with seven and Novak Djokovic with five titles. Novak will not defend the title this year, and Federer won't compete as well. Dominic Thiem and Andrey Rublev will be the biggest favorites to win the title.
The winner will receive 500 ATP points and $149,490, with $110,530 and 300 points reserved for the runner-up. The semi-finalists take 78,710 and 180 points, reduced to €32,000 and 90 points for the quarter-finalists. The third round brings $33,495 and 45 points, and the second $19,620 and 20 points.
