ATP Draw announced for 2022 Sydney Tennis Classic including Kyrgios, Murray and Karatsev

The 2022 Sydney Tennis Classic brings us an interesting tennis event featuring some big names like Kyrgios, Murray and Karatsev.

The event, running from January 10th till January 15th is an ATP 250 event but even so it will feature a strong field of players. Most of these players have either played at the ATP Cup the week before or will use this event as a prep event for the upcoming Australian Open. ATP Cup was held on the same courts with some decent attendance and that should be the case as well this week.

The top seed is Aslan Karatsev which is an interesting development considering that about a year ago he made his big breakthrough on this very continent. Being the number one seed is not something he is used to but it might do him good. Nick Kyrgios will also return to the courts at this event here and he will face Fabio Fognini in the 1st round. If he survives that he will have to deal with 4th seed Reilly Opelka in the 3rd round.

Andy Murray got a wild card entry into the event and he will face a qualifier in the first round. If he wins that match he will play against Basilashvili. Either way, it's a good draw for Murray who will be able to test himself ahead of the grand slam.
