The ATP issued a calendar update that announced the date of the BNP Paris Open in
Indian Wells as well as several other notable events.
The BNP Paris Open was supposed to take place back in March but it was postponed to much later in the year due to the ongoing pandemic. With the situation somewhat improving in America, the event will be held in week 41 (10th till 17th October).
Another Masters event, the Rolex Shanghai Masters will also be held this season and the possible date could be in week 40 but it has not been confirmed yet. Two events that were originally supposed to be held in week 40 (China Open and Rakuten Japan Open) have been postponed due to COVID-19 complications.
Another event that was originally supposed to happen in April (Grand Prix in Marrakech) was also cancelled after being originally postponed to much later in the year. Those were the only changes in the 4th quarter of the 2021 ATP calendar.
The ATP continues to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in assessing the provisional Q4 calendar in order to ensure optimised player flow and provide as many playing opportunities as possible. Further updates to the calendar will be communicated in due course.
