Nick Kyrgios got a hefty fine for his Miami Open theatrics that included several code violations and a near defaulting from the match against Sinner.
Kyrgios took issue with umpire Carlos Bernardes clashing several times hastening his defeat against a very inspired Sinner. After the match, Kyrgios was heavily fined for his actions and it's his 2nd consecutive fine as he was fined for throwing a racquet in a reckless manner at the Indian Wells Masters the previous week.
During the post match conference he questioned the way ATP handles fines citing a double standard:
“Well, it’s not that I don’t care, I just don’t think it’s fair. Like I just hate to bring up the same things over and over again. But Shapovalov nailed a ball in someone’s eyeball and got 5 grand. I can throw a racquet at Indian Wells, didn’t even hit anyone, and I’m getting 25 grand.”
He further said calling out the ATP further:
"Where is like the balance? Like how much do I bring for the sport? Like that’s the problem with tennis, we just don’t protect our stars at all. We love to outcast them and full of bad media. ATP never defends their players, never stands up for them.”

‘You could do the job of the umpire’ - what was said to my best friend that got me ‘unsportsmanlike code violation’ at 5-3 in the first set tie break. With 100 of thousands of dollars on the line that was the decision he made because the umpires ‘feelings got hurt. GET NEW PEOPLE
