Frances Tiafoe has had quite a memorable career so far as the American is player exciting crowds wherever he goes.
A lot of this has to do with his playstyle which is quite unconventional and never lacks the crowd-appeasement factor which a lot of people love. His bubbly personality and jokester attitude is another reason why he is very popular with the fans whenever he goes. He has one trophy to his name so far but the 24-year old certainly is capable of more.
In a recent podcast, Tiafoe explained his unconventional forehand which has been a talking point ever since he appeared on the tour:
“I used to have a normal forehand. I’ll never forget I played this tournament, Les petits AS in France. I was like…jumping around and making fun of these forehands on the tour. I would always go and do that. I would see guys on tour here. So, I would copy a bunch of guys, coaches coaching that you need to stop doing that because it messes up the stroke. I was like…man…c’mon man.”
He continued:
“All of a sudden, I can’t hit a forehand. So I’m trying a bunch of things. I’m just messing around. I’m hitting balls on the walls for like hours. Then I was joking around and swinging like that and it felt nice. Here we are.”
