The withdrawal of Jannik Sinner until 2027 has caused a major shakeup in the world of tennis regarding the ATP Finals. His absence frees up another spot on the rostrum when it comes to Turin.
Among those in line as a result will include Novak Djokovic and Rafael Jodar. Sinner alongside Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev was one of the only players currently qualified for the ATP Finals, with the rest of the line-up not currently set.
Djokovic and Jodar stand a chance
Ben Shelton was very close to securing his spot, him reaching the third round at the Masters 1000 in Shanghai would ensure his presence in Turin. From Shelton, it is looking likely to go further down to the wire with Flavio Cobolli occupying the fifth position with 3,540 points. Frances Tiafoe is next up with 3,380 points, Arthur FIls is in seventh with 3,285 points.
Daniil Medvedev sits in eighth with 3,020 points, the Russian suffered a deduction of 200 points for his disqualification at the China Open which was won by Novak Djokovic seeing off Alex de Minaur in the final.
The ninth position will be the limit for the ATP Finals. Novak Djokovic is now placed with 2,840 points. However his spot is by no means assured, Alex de Minaur sits with 2,690 points. In eleventh, Rafa Jodar sits with 2,519 points.
Jodar's early exits likely take him more out of the situation. He had early exits in the first rounds of the US Open and Japan Open. However his strong performances elsewhere mean he still stands a chance. However he will still need good results in both Shanghai and Paris. Taylor Fritz with 2,490 points, Jakub Mensik with 2,405 points, Tommy Paul with 2,385 points, and Félix Auger-Aliassime with 2,375 points behind them also stand a chance.
