The ATP 500 tournaments in Rio and Doha concluded with
Sebastian Baez and
Andrey Rublev as the champions of the week, moving up in the
ATP Race to Turin. Unlike the official ATP Rankings, which account for the past 52 weeks, the ATP Race only includes points earned in 2025. By the end of the season, the top eight players will qualify for the ATP Finals.
The Middle East Swing and the Golden Swing will have their final stops this week at the Mexican Open and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. These will be the last tournaments before the Sunshine Double, which is why many top players have opted to rest and fine-tune their preparations for Indian Wells.
Race leader in Danger?
Jannik Sinner remains at the top of the ATP Race, but his lead is now under threat. If
Alexander Zverev wins the Acapulco title this week, he will take over the No. 1 spot. The World No. 1 – currently serving a three-month suspension – leads the Race with 2,000 points, all earned at the Australian Open, his only tournament of the season. While he remains comfortably atop the official ATP Rankings, his Race ranking could start to decline as early as this week.
Jannik Sinner received 2,000 points for the title in 2025 Australian Open, his only torunament this year
Alexander Zverev holds second place with 1,505 points after finishing as the Australian Open finalist. However, he had a disappointing Golden Swing in South America, managing just one win and two losses across Argentina Open and Rio Open. Zverev will now aim for his first title of the season in Acapulco, and a victory would see him take over the ATP Race lead next week.
Carlos Alcaraz rounds out the top three with 1,260 points, having reached the Australian Open quarterfinals and won the ABN AMRO Open. The Spaniard was eliminated in the Doha quarterfinals by Jiri Lehecka and is now preparing for Indian Wells, where he will defend his title.
In fourth place,
Alex de Minaur has been one of the most consistent players this season. The Australian finished runner-up in Rotterdam and reached the quarterfinals in Australia and Doha, boasting a 10-3 record in 2025. He will be among the favorites in Acapulco this week.
Tied in fifth place are
Novak Djokovic and
Ben Shelton, both with 850 points. The 24-time Grand Slam champion and the American reached the Australian Open semifinals, but only Shelton will compete this week in Acapulco. Just one victory in Mexico could see Shelton surpass Djokovic in the Race standings.
Rounding out the top 10 are Andrey Rublev (710 points), the recent Doha champion, followed by Tommy Paul (700) and Jiri Lehecka (700). The Russian claimed the Doha title on Sunday, defeating
Jack Draper in the final. The Briton, on the other hand, is now ranked No. 14 with 530 points.
The Rio Open champion was Sebastian Baez, who moved up to 13th place in the Race after defeating a surprising Alexandre Muller in the final. Muller now holds the No. 11 spot, following an impressive start to the year, which includes a title at the Hong Kong Open and a runner-up finish in Rio.
