The
ATP Rankings have been updated for yet another week as the Qatar Open and Rio Open took place respectively with Andrey Rublev in particular sealing the title.
Novak Djokovic,
Jannik Sinner and
Daniil Medvedev are the players though who made headlines.
Sinner still leads as World Number One albeit of course his ban is currently ongoing so he cannot gain points having not played Doha but with the chasing pack around him tripping up, he also isn't losing too much.
Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic in particular lost early in Doha and the latter in particular is in danger of falling out of the top 10. After being seen limping, Djokovic seemingly faces a race against time to play at Indian Wells and Miami in the coming weeks. He sits at World Number 7.
While Alcaraz sits third and is only a positive this week as
Alexander Zverev suffered Quarter-Final losses at both the Argentina Open and Rio Open. But he is not in danger of losing the World No.2 spot. He sits on 8,135 points compared to 7,510 for his next challenger.
Daniil Medvedev sits sixth and is closing in on a top five return. While further down Andrey Rublev in winning the title sits very well placed as he is up to 9th going up one spot after winning the title.
Despite having to withdraw from Dubai, Jack Draper reached the final in Doha and surges up the rankings again.
Jack Draper after reaching the final sits in 12th, while this has led to a knock on effect which sees Holger Rune, Ben Shelton, Ugo Humbert and Grigor Dimitrov all sliding down the rankings at pace down from 13th-16th.
Felix Auger-Aliassime, Jiri Lehecka and Matteo Berrettini all also made moves. Former World No.6 Felix Auger-Aliassime also surged towards a top 20 return, Lehecka is up to a new career high of World No.22. While Berrettini hit the top 30 again after reaching the Quarter-Finals in Doha where he beat Djokovic en route.
Alexandre Muller who reached the final of the Rio Open is up 19 spots. While the same can be said for semi-finalist Francisco Comesana. Camilo Ugo Carabelli also leapfrogged the competition moving up 22 spots himself after reaching the Quarter-Finals.
