ATP Ranking Update: Djokovic passes Lendl in the all-time weeks at no.1

270 weeks, this is the time Ivan Lendl spent as the best man of men's tennis. And Novak Djokovic managed to overcome this number this week when he was the leader already for 271 weeks. However, in the historical chart, he is still at the 3rd place, behind Pete Sampras, who spent a total of 286 weeks in 1st place. The best player in this statistic is Roger Federer, who has been number 1 all the way up to 310 weeks and can still improve this statistic.

Lendl shortly commented on Djokovic: “During my career, I had no idea of how many weeks I’d spent at No. 1, but it was a by product of winning big tournaments. Today, Novak’s consistency is amazing and that’s why he has been No. 1 for this many weeks.”

The biggest shift in the ranking was recorded by Pablo-Carreno Busta. He moved up by 24 places after winning the Chengdu Open. The Spaniard is now in 39th place, which is still far from his career best, which is the 10th position.

Alexander Bublik achieved his career maximum, when Carreno-Busta defeated him in the final. Bublik is 57th and has seen a shift of 14 places this week.
