After the loss of Novak Djokovic in Shanghai, Rafael Nadal closed the gap on the ATP ranking to just 320 points. The US Open winner will move to the first spot due to Djokovic not playing in Vienna or Basel. Which means he will drop 1,600 points.
Daniil Medvedev is only 1030 points behind Roger Federer after the Shanghai Masters triumph. Medvedev is also playing Moscow, but even if he wins the tournament he can only add 70 extra points to his total due to his semi-final result from 2018.
Alexander Zverev, the finalist from Shanghai, is closing on Dominic Thiem. Both players are not playing in Moscow or Antwerpen, so the next tournament will be in Paris.
Karen Khachanov could jump over Kei Nishikori if he wins the tournament in Moscow.
