ATP Rankings Update | Change around the corner at the top as Arthur Fils breaks new ground

Another week of tennis, another week closer to a new World No.1 taking their spot at the top of the tennis elite. The ATP rankings are set for quite a bit of change in the next couple of weeks, with two ATP 500 tournaments taking place in Austria and Switzerland, with the Paris Masters and ATP Finals also on the horizon.
The reigning Vienna Open champion, Jannik Sinner, will not partake in proceedings, an obvious outcome with his injury keeping him out for the rest of 2026. Alexander Zverev will get another chance to close in on his inevitable rise to World No.1. Carlos Alcaraz, who is also competing, will look to continue his charge back up the order.
Sinner is joined by Felix Auger-Aliassime as the only top 10 players not to feature in these upcoming indoor events. A number of them were in action over the past week, with numerous ATP 250 tournaments taking place. Daniil Medvedev bolstered his spot in fifth as he defended a title for the first time in his career in the form of the Almaty Open.
Flavio Cobolli and Arthur Fils exited at the semi-finals, respectively, in Lyon and Brussels. While Fils will be disappointed not to have gone the extra mile, the points earned boost him two places to eighth in the world with more ground soon to be made up. Alex de Minaur goes the other way down to 10th.

Titles and points handed out as movement further down the rankings

Taylor Fritz competed in a fifth final in 2026, losing a fourth at the Lyon Open. He gains one place to 13th ahead of fellow American Tommy Paul but is still a distance away from returning to the top 10. Lorenzo Musetti may have broken his title duct but remains in 26th.
Shanghai Masters champion Alejandro Davidovich Fokina pulled out of the Swiss Indoors, an event he made the final of last year. He falls two positions after skyrocketing up the order in recent times.
The 2025 champion, Joao Fonseca, has endured a tumultuous season with injuries common. He has called an end to proceedings, falling to 40th for the time being. Going the other way is Stefanos Tsitsipas. He will be looking to the start of 2027, specifically the Australian Open, with seeding for the first Grand Slam of the year a paramount objective. He could not collect the spoils in Kazakhstan, losing in the semi-finals.

That was to former Indian Wells finalist Nikoloz Basilashvili, who could not capitalise on his set advantage in the final against Medvedev. The Georgian qualifier is back in the top 100 for the first time since November 2025, with 33 spots gained in a flourishing week. He can now be found in 95th.
At the European Open, it was a surprise final encounter between Jan-Lennard Struff and Tallon Griekspoor. The Dutchman's fourth ATP title saw him climb to 50th after rising 10 spots. He still trails the defeated finalist, with the 36-year-old up 11 positions to 47th.
