Australia defeated Great Britain in a stunning 3-match tie when doubles decided about the first semifinalist at the ATP Cup.
Nick Kyrgios was the man to start the show for Australia on Thursday morning. In the first matchup, he faced Cameron Norrie as he was looking for his
3rd victory at the ATP Cup. And he was successful when he defeated Norrie quickly in 73 minutes 6-2, 6-2.
In the second match, Dan Evans had to fight really hard against
Alex De Minaur to keep the hopes for his country alive. And he did as he turned the first set after being 0-3 down. However, De Minaur leveled the score in the second to force the third decisive set. There, it was tie-break again that decided, De Minaur failed again as Great Britain leveled the score after almost 3 and a half hours.
Instead of an experienced duo in doubles Guccione & Peers, who did not lose any match at the ATP Cup, Lleyton Hewitt decided to start Kyrgios & De Minaur against Murray & Salisbury in doubles. And it was a great decision. Despite losing the first set, Kyrgios & De Minaur fought back to lead their country into semifinals at the ATP Cup.
