Fans were left impressed with the reaction of America’s young tennis star Ben Shelton. The 21-year-old is often regarded as one of the most highly-rated young players currently playing in the circuit alongside Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Italy’s Jannik Sinner.
Shelton grabbed the headline during the US Open 2023, especially with his celebration. He faced Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic in the semifinal of the fourth and final Grand Slam where his journey ended.
The 36-year-old copied the celebration following his victory in the match. He was recently asked about it before the start of the Australian Open 2024 where he revealed that he did that before the young American “did not behave with respect.”
Shelton was also asked about the incident but he refused to comment by stating: "I don't really have anything else to say on the whole US Open situation. I feel like I've been asked about it constantly in the last four or five months. I feel like I've said my piece on the matter. I would rather just let it settle and move forward.
"We're in Australia now, and we're at the Australian Open and not the US Open anymore. Everyone can have their opinion on who I am or how I act. But, yeah, I don't know. I don't have an answer to your question."

That response left fans impressed as some of them, on social media platform X—previously known as Twitter, stated that Shelton has reacted in a much mature manner compared to a 36-year-old.
The Atlanta-born began his campaign at the Australian Open with a thumping win against Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut with a score of 6-2, 7-6, 7-5.
