The Phoenix Challenger has traditionally been played in the second week of the Indian Wells Masters and it generally gets a pretty decent field and this year will be no different with Monfils, Berrettini and Schwartzman taking part.
The event generally gets a lot of players entering who lose early in the Indian Wells Masters and this year is no exception. We'll see Matteo Berretini play along with
Diego Schwartzman and
Gael Monfils. All of them had early exits in Indian Wells and all of them received wild card entries into the event.
Plenty of players pledged to play at the event even before they knew their fate at the Indian Wells Masters such as Jack Draper but he's still going strong and is likely to remain there. Other top 50 players that entered the event include Bublik, Botic van de Zandschulp, Sebastian Baez, Richard Gasquet, Huesler and two rising stars -
Wu Yibing and
Jiri Lehecka.
