Berrettini too strong for Monfils to reach Semi-Finals US Open

The Italian had some nerves in the first set and Monfils dominated on serve and took the first set with 6-3. After the first nerves were past Berrettini took set two with 6-3 and set three with 6-2. Monfils used the support of the crowd to take control of set 4 by converting his fifth breakpoint in the fourth game. With 6-3 Monfils balanced the game again.

In an exciting fifth set, we saw the no. 24 seed serving for the match at 5-4. Again the nerves were too much for Berrettini and Monfils broke serve again to get back to 5-5. Finally at 6-5 in the tiebreak we saw the Italian complete his 34th match win of 2019.
