Boris Becker has been moved to a new facility that hosts prisoners that are on the 'to be deported' list indicating he might be moved to Germany sooner.
Reports are coming out that Boris Becker has been moved to a new prison used for foreign criminals in a fresh sign that he could be deported as early as next year. The tennis icon was last month sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for concealing £2.5million of assets to avoid paying money he owed after bankruptcy.
Boris Becker has reportedly been moved to a new prison used for foreign criminals in a fresh sign that he could be deported as early as next year. The tennis icon was last month sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for concealing £2.5million of assets to avoid paying money he owed after bankruptcy.
It is the latest sign that Becker faces deportation from the United Kingdom following his sentencing. He will qualify for automatic deportation because he is a foreign national without British citizenship who has received a prison sentence of more than 12 months.
At the time of sentencing, Becker's barrister Jonathan Laidlaw QC told the court that his client’s career had been ‘left in tatters’. He said: "Boris Becker has literally nothing and there is also nothing to show for what was the most glittering of sporting careers and that is correctly termed as nothing short of a tragedy. These proceedings have destroyed his career entirely and ruined any further prospect of earning an income."
