Botic van de Zandschulp made sure that his nation will be at the top of the group by beating Taylor Fritz 6-4 7-6(3).
The Dutch played amazing tennis all week long to not only secure a spot at the Davis Cup Finals but also to top the group with the US and Great Britain. Today's match was not that crucial for either team as they both secured a spot at the Finals but the Dutch wanted it more and they proved it on the court.
Griekspoor got point number one and Botic got point number two. The Dutch player took on a very disinterested Fritz who looked aloof at times and he played like it. The first set was won 6-4 as Fritz surrendered a late break after playing rather well at the start and missing a couple of chances to break himself.
Botic jumped out to an early break in the second set but Fritz pulled it back midway through to make it interesting again. No player was able to find a breakthrough after that so we ended up in a tiebreak. Botic proved better in that one taking it 7-3 and sending his nation past the US on top of the group.
