Cameron Norrie won't play at the Olympic Games despite being in Paris with the Brit having to withdraw with injury hours before he was due to take to the court creating injury chaos in Paris.
Norrie joins Alex de Minaur and Anhelina Kalinina who both withdrew before play started on Day Two of the Olympic Games and with Nadal initially being a possibility of withdrawing, it was nearly three big names in one morning.
Norrie was due to face Tallon Griekspoor third on Court 10. But when the first match finished on Court 10 between Maria Lourdes Carle and Tatjana Maria, the ITF announced Norrie wasn't playing after all.
The LTA also tweeted. "Sadly Cam Norrie has been forced to withdraw from @TeamGB at the @Olympics due to injury Hope to see you back on court soon, Cam."
It means that he will have to make his Olympic Games debut at LA 2028 and also means a brother of a familiar face jumps in with Petros Tsitsipas, brother of Stefanos who is unranked in singles will play instead. De Minaur also hadn't recovered in time after injuring his hip recently. Francisco Cabral replaced him. While for Kalinina, it at least was a singles player with Olivia Gadecki jumping into the void.
But still after wide complaints including from Novak Djokovic, it doesn't paint the Olympic Games in a good light with the amount of injuries and standard of said replacements.
