American tennis star, Jenson Brooksby will not play in this year's
Australian Open after testing positive for COVID-19 before flying to Melbourne.
Brooksby who has never played at the Grand Slam was due to make his debut after his breakout 2021 which saw a first ATP final, a US Open fourth round and a top 60 debut.
But alas that will have to wait until next year with Kamil Majchrzak the next alternate into the draw after his withdrawal.
"It isn't easy to miss a Slam, there are many out there who have suffered worse so I can't complain. I look forward to making my Aussie Open debut next year, stay safe," he said on an Instagram story earlier this morning.
