Bob and Mike Bryan return to the courts after a 3-month break in great style reaching the 2nd round of the Australian Open Men's doubles
It has been a long time since Bob and
Mike Bryan last stepped on the court together and the crowd was visibly excited to see them. Their opponents in the first round were Bopanna and Uchiyama. Let's see how this one went.
The first was quick and efficient for the Bryans. It was as if they last played yesterday as they were confident in they're game, their reaction time was quick, the shots were falling and they were rolling. Twenty minutes after they stepped on the court it was already 6-1 to them.
Their opponents looked a bit nervous but after they settled a bit they played much better. And indeed they managed to break the brothers and cruise to an easy 6-3 2nd set victory. The 3rd set started out slow. Both pairs were winning points on their own serves. At 4-3 to the Bryans they turned up the heat and their opponents couldn't handle it. They took the break and served for victory. Calm and composed as they have ever been they closed out the match to a roaring crowd.
It was a comeback in style for the pair and just how far can they go will be an interesting watch.
