Alexander Bublik is one win away from lifting the 🏆 in Newport! @TennisHalloFame | #InfosysHallOfFameOpen
Alexander Bublik will look to double his title tally for the season on Sunday at the Hall of Fame Open in Newport with the Kazakh ace who plays superbly on grass showing another exhibit of that in ending the run of Aussie, Jason Kubler on Saturday evening.
Bublik eased through 6-3, 6-2 and is now one win away from sealing the title to add to victory in Montpellier. He was in control from the start hitting 15 aces and lost just six points on his serve throughout the whole contest.
He sealed 3/10 break points and now will face Maxime Cressy in a superb final who was fortunate to see off John Isner 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
He did so thanks to a strange return winner which was a mishit that sailed high and made it barely over the net but when it hit the grass, it kicked back to Cressy's side before Isner could reach it.
From there, the luck was in as Cressy saved a pair of break points coming from 15-40 down to seal it in the next game as he looks to finally seal a title this season after defeats in Melbourne and Eastbourne to Rafael Nadal and Taylor Fritz.
