Following his outstanding victory at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships,
Carlos Alcaraz has decided to add a new tournament to his schedule next season and compete at the
Rotterdam Open.
An ATP 500 event, the Rotterdam Open is beloved by fans and players alike. It features a prestigious list of champions, ranging from Arthur Ashe and Bjorn Borg to Roger Federer and World No.1 Jannik Sinner. The Rotterdam Open is set to run from February 3-9, 2025, which could possibly interfere with Alcaraz's participation at the start of the South American swing that season.
Alcaraz set to renew rivalry with Sinner
With the Italian being the defending champion and also scheduled to compete at the event, there is the potential for Alcaraz to resume his budding rivalry with the reigning Australian Open champion. The Spaniard holds a 5-4 lead in career meetings, although the two have never met in a Grand Slam final.
Alcaraz and Sinner are both set to compete at the upcoming
Olympic Games in Paris, with the Spaniard confirmed to play alongside compatriot Rafael Nadal in the men's doubles event. Nonetheless, Alcaraz will have his hands full in the singles competition, as he could square off against the likes of Sinner, Novak Djokovic and 2021 Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Alexander Zverev.
