Carlos Alcaraz produced another solid effort to defeat a very good
Tommy Paul at the Miami Masters getting one step closer to the Sunshine double.
Alcaraz doing well in Miami should not be a surprise because we literally saw that last year when he won his maiden ATP 1000 trophy here. This run is looking fairly similar to that one and today's match was a balanced performance without many complications. The match lasted a little over 90 minutes and saw Alcaraz win both sets 6-4.
The first one featured pretty good play by both. Paul was very aggressive but he couldn't his as many winners as he had hoped. Even so, he dropped his serve only once even though Alcaraz had a chance to go up a double break. The second set was a bit more straightforward but Alcaraz once again didn't face a single break point on his serve.
He had multiple chances to break Paul but eventually did it only once which was enough. In total 3 aces and 24 winners from the Spaniard which was much more than Paul had and that proved key.
