Carlos Alcaraz dropped his first set at this year's Roland Garros but he still managed to make it look very easy for much of this match cruising past Daniel 6-1 3-6 6-1 6-2.
It was a really solid match from Alcaraz as he demonstrated incredible shot-making once doing it all with his signature smile. It's a joy to watch Alcaraz play tennis because for him it's truly a passion, it's not a job, it's not hard it's what he really wants to do most of the time. The start was furious once again as he smashed his opponent 6-1 to take the first set.

Daniel fights back

The Japanese player managed to battle back in the second set with some really good play but Alcaraz also helped him quite a bit. He was missing shots he generally makes. It was a result of him dropping his focus a bit but he managed to bounce back in spectacular fashion immediately after dropping the second set.
It was 6-1 for the Spaniard once more as Taro couldn't really stick with Alcaraz in rallies. Every once a while the Spaniard would just crush the ball and that was that.

Finish it off

Alcaraz didn't allow himself to lose focus in the final set as he kept applying pressure and doing what he knows worked. He finished off the match 6-2 in his favour which is important as his next opponent will be Denis Shapovalov. Cerainly a more trickier player than Daniel. Just a pretty good and balanced match from the Spaniard. 47 winners in total.
