Nick Kyrgios has snubbed Jannik Sinner who he has had some choice words for in the past year in regards to his doping and he has picked Carlos Alcaraz as the one who will lead the sport.
Kyrgios said that he is ahead of Sinner and has the flair and X-Factor that the big three (Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer) have. He did laud Sinner but said he won't be one of the greats while Alcaraz will.
Alcaraz is aiming for a third Wimbledon title next week and will also aim today to win Queen's again. The title that started it all for the Spaniard on grass, he has since becoming a conquering force and Kyrgios sees that continuing.
"They pushed each other to a level that not many have played before. I think Alcaraz has that flair and X-factor of Federer, Nadal and Novak," said Kyrgios as per TNT Sports.
"Sinner is incredibly powerful, but Alcaraz will be up there with those greats."
He also tipped the Spaniard to win Wimbledon again. "I’ve got to say Alcaraz."
It is a few years on from his Wimbledon final heartbreak. As evidenced by him not returning since, he has yet to recover from his wrist injury and he reflected on that final.
"It was only a couple of points here and there where, if I’d acted a bit differently, I would have had a Wimbledon title," he said.
"But there’s no shame in losing to the greatest of all time.
"Do I think about it often? Yes. Do I think about what I could have changed? Yes. Could I have prepared better? No. I prepared amazingly."
