Carlos Alcaraz dropped the 2nd match on grass he played in Hurlingham this time to
Casper Ruud who largely cruised 7-6(2) 6-2.
It was an interesting match as it featured Alcaraz who looked out of sorts on the grass and Ruud who was quite comfortable. Ruud showed much improvement compared to his outing in Queen's when Ryan Peniston proved much better. In this one it was he, who was more comfortable on grass compared to his opponent who once again struggled with his timing a little bit.
His elbow, which kept him out of Queen's was even more strapped this time around and he struggled with his forehand overhitting it many times. Despite all of that, Alcaraz kept himself in it with some solid serving overall and some lacklustre play from Ruud when he was given a window.
In the tiebreak, Ruud proved much more focused and clinical rushing quickly to a 7-2 win. The 2nd set featured an even weaker performance from Alcaraz as Ruud was finding more and more solutions. The Spaniard dropped his serve early and never recovered dropping it once more en route to the 2-6 2nd set finish. Not looking that great for Alcaraz ahead of Wimbledon.
