Carlos Alcaraz makes winning at the Barcelona Open

Carlos Alcaraz began his Barcelona Open title defence with an impressive showing against Nuno Borges beating him 6-3 6-1.

Alcaraz missed last week's action due to rest following some minor injuries that bothered him at the Miami Open. He looked really rested in this first match in Barcelona beating a solid clay player in Borges. The first set finished 6-3 for Alcaraz who was able to dominate from the baseline as he usually does.

Neither player served very well due to the conditions and that really hurt Borges overall. His serve is a crucial part of his game and it gave Alcaraz too many chances to impose his will in rallies. Alcaraz looked even better in the second set smashing Borges 6-1 by exploiting his second serve.

The Spaniard won 17 of 22 points on the second serve of Borges which was quite impressive. A good start for Alcaraz who looked as good as he's ever looked.
