Bulgarian tennis player
Grigor Dimitrov was recently the victim of a shocking theft in Barcelona as he's in town for the
Barcelona Open.
While in town for the ATP 500 clay-court tournament, Dimitrov had his high-end watch stolen off his wrist in a brazen act of thievery. The watch was reportedly worth a staggering 70,000 euros, making it a significant loss for the athlete. Thankfully, Dimitrov was unharmed in the incident and admirably kept his cool in the aftermath.
He immediately reported the crime at a nearby police station, although unfortunately, the stolen watch has yet to be recovered. Despite the shocking incident, Dimitrov has remained focused on the tournament and is determined to put the ordeal behind him. In a recent statement, he expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support he has received:
"Thank you everyone for the kind messages the last
couple of days. The most important thing is I wasn't harmed and I am
ready to compete this week in Barcelona."
In the first round, Dimitrov will face the winner of the match between Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Emilio Gomez.
