Spain’s young tennis star
Carlos Alcaraz has received a
major boost after having a difficult start to the 2024 season.
The 20-year-old is often regarded as one of the most
highly-rated players currently playing in the men’s singles category alongside
Italy’s Jannik Sinner.
Alcaraz has received a major boost as he will have his regular
coach
Juan Carlos Ferrero back in the camp after some time away. He was also absent from the coaching staff during the recently concluded Australian Open.
In his absence, Alcaraz was coached by Samuel Lopez but that
didn’t prove to be the right combination his journey came to an end in the
quarterfinal to Germany’s Alexander Zverev with a score of 6-1, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.
The former world number one will be hoping that the return
of his normal coach Ferrero will prove to be helpful in the tournaments to
come.
Alcaraz made a name
for himself after beating the current world number one and legendary Serbian tennis
star Novak Djokovic in the final at Wimbledon last year in a five-set thriller
with a score of 1–6, 7–6(8–6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4. It was his second major title as
he also won the US Open in 2022 after beating Norway’s Casper Ruud with a score
of 6–4, 2–6, 7–6(7–1), 6–3.
