Australia’s tennis star Alex de Minaur has revealed the positive
impact he has had in his professional life with a relationship with Britain’s Katie
Boulter.
The two have been dating for a while and can be described as
one of the most followed couples in tennis. De Minaur was recently quoted in a report where he revealed
how his girlfriend Boulter has helped her deal with difficult results on
the court.
“She teaches me to enjoy life, enjoy the process, not let
results dictate your life,” he said. “At times, I’ve been very hard on myself
and I’ve taken losses very, very badly. But the sheer fact of being with her,
I’ve been able to snap out of it so much quicker and learn to enjoy it and see
the good things about life off the court.”
Talking about his personal objectives, De Minaur stated that
all he wants to have a career where after retiring, he can look back with the
comfort that he gave his all when he had the chance to produce the goods on the
court.
“The one thing I want to achieve in my career is that I can
sit on the couch, once it’s all said and done and know that I gave myself the
best shot and I did everything I could,” he said. “I don’t want to have any
regrets. That means getting the most out of myself and seeing where I need to
improve, what I need to do in certain situations to ultimately be able to
finish my career and be content and know that I gave it my all.”
De Minaur had a difficult time in the first Grand Slam of
the year — the Australian Open — where he was knocked out after losing in the fourth
round to Russia’s Andrey Rublev in a five-set thriller with a score of 6-4,
6-7, 6-7, 6-3, 6-0.
