Spanish tennis player
Carlos Alcaraz secured his spot in the semifinals of the
Argentina Open after defeating Andrea Vavassori 7-6(1) and 6-1.
The first set was closely contested, and neither player could break the other's serve. They reached the tie-break, where the world number 2 was much sharper, unleashing his entire arsenal to win it 7-1.
The second set was a monologue by Alcaraz. The Italian salvaged some pride at the end to avoid a bagel, but the set showcased a spectacle of drop shots and lobs from Carlitos.
In the semifinals, he will face the winner of the match between Chilean Nicolás Jarry and Argentine Tomás Martín Etcheverry, both specialists on clay and currently in the top 30 in the world.
