Carlos Moya and Marc Lopez, Rafael Nadal's coaches, have spoken on the official Twitch channel of the Madrid Open about the state of the legendand what they hope he can do this Saturday against Alex de Miñaur in the second round and in order to arrive in good shape at Roland Garros;
In statements collected by the Punto de Break, Carlos Moyà is clear that before the Australian will be a 'different Rafa': "Before De Minaur we will see a different Rafa. In Barcelona I did not see him prepared against an opponent made as Alex. I think we will see a Rafa who has spent 8 days and that every minute he spends on court is a minute of improvement. I think that tomorrow we can have a more competitive match than the other day. I don't know if he will win, but within the team we are more confident about what we can see. It will be better than what we saw last week (remember he lost the first set 7-5 and then let himself go in the second and lost it 6-1 at the Godó)."
Marc Lopez makes a curious reflection on the conditions of Madrid. As the city is at a higher altitude than other clay court tournaments, tennis players hit it harder, something Rafa needs to be more confident for Roland Garros: "Here in Madrid people hit him harder and that doesn't seem to make him feel as confident and our job is to make him see that he is better than he is. I think he is competitive, improving day by day and taking small steps forward. He always surprises us and hopefully he will surprise us once again".
