Casper Ruud keeps on winning and his latest victim was Mikael Ymer whom he beat 3-6 7-6(5) 6-3.
Ruud entered this match with a 9-match winning streak including a great win in 3 sets against Martinez. That match was a grueling affair that affected Ruud physically and it showed today. Less than 24 hours later Ruud came out flat against Ymer who is a capable clay courter.
The Swedish player was able to break Ruud early and he never looked back. He won the set with 6-3 thanks to some stellar play on his serve. He faced zero break points indicating a slow start for Ruud.
The 2nd set featured improved play by Ruud despite him losing his serve in the first game of the 2nd set. He pulled it back immediately after but continued to have issues on his 2nd serve.

In the end that almost proved to be his undoing as he was down 4-5 and 5-6 with Ymer serving for the match both times. He forced a tiebreak against all odds and pulled it out by winning it 7-5.

The Norwegian jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the momentum-swinging 2nd set. Slowly but expecteadly Ymer was falling apart as Ruud took a 4-0 lead. And after that he added two more for the parting bagel.
