Recent reports indicate that
Casper Ruud may have secretly married Maria Galligani in December. The three-time Grand Slam finalist, without making any public announcement, reportedly went to Oslo City Hall to marry his longtime partner after several years together.
Ruud and Galligani have been a couple since 2018 and became engaged in November 2024, although they have not shared further details regarding the date of their wedding. The Norwegian has always been very private about his personal life, and his marriage was no exception.
Unlike many high-profile athletes, Ruud did not provide specific details about the ceremony and did not post anything on social media. According to reports, the couple married last month. Their engagement took place at the end of 2024 during a vacation in the Maldives.
“It was romantic on the beach at sunset, so I had to come up with the most romantic thing I could think of, and then we kissed. It was the perfect moment and I felt really good,” Ruud told Good Morning Norway at the time.
According to the Norwegian outlet
Se og Hør, the couple married in Oslo in a small, private ceremony.
The newly married couple is also expecting their first child, which they announced a few months ago via social media. At the time, Ruud shared a photo alongside Galligani with the caption: “The team is growing ❤️ see you next year babygirl 👼🏼.”
The announcement drew congratulations from several fellow players, including Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and Holger Rune.
Ruud set for United Cup debut as Norway opens against Australia
Casper Ruud is preparing for his debut this week at the United Cup, a tournament for which Norway has qualified over the past four years thanks to the ranking of the three-time Grand Slam finalist. As in previous editions, Ruud will once again team up with Malene Helgø, currently ranked world No. 533, with a career-high ranking of world No. 317.
Their best result came in 2024, when they advanced past the round-robin stage but were eliminated in the quarterfinals by France. On that occasion, Ruud secured a singles victory over Adrian Mannarino, while Helgø suffered a narrow defeat against Caroline Garcia. The tie was decided in the mixed doubles, where Ruud and Ulrikke Eikeri lost in straight sets to Garcia and Édouard Roger-Vasselin.
This time, Norway will open its campaign against host nation Australia in Group D in Sydney. Helgø will face teenage sensation Maya Joint, while Ruud will take on Alex de Minaur in the men’s singles match. The two will meet again just one month after facing each other in the final of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown exhibition in London, where the Australian claimed the victory.
At present, the head-to-head record stands 2–0 in favour of De Minaur, the current world No. 7. Their most recent official meeting came in the final of the 2024 Mexican Open in Acapulco, where the Australian lifted the title for the second consecutive year.
