Casper Ruud demolished
Cameron Norrie in the final of the
San Diego Open 6-0 6-2 to win the 2021 San Diego Open.
A great week by Casper Ruud in San Diego finished with his maiden hard court title at the San Diego Open. The Norwegian played continued playing great tennis after his solid Laver Cup outing beating some strong players in San Deigo. In the final, he went against Cameron Norrie and he was utterly dominant to win it in two sets.
Not much can be said about the match itself as it lasted just over 60 minutes seeing Ruud lose only two games overall. He started off well playing great tennis to take an early lead and never looked back. Norrie was unsure what to do but he played a very underwhelming match making far too many mistakes and generally playing worse.
This title was Ruuds 6th career title and 5th in 2021 making him the players with the most titles in 2021. It was by far the most impressive win of all of them as he took down some strong opposition to win it. After that match, he received high praise from Rod Laver a longtime resident of San Diego who said that Ruud was the real deal. Ruud himself said it's one of the best matches he ever played. Congratulations.
