Casper Ruud withdraws from Tokyo Olympic Games

Casper Ruud has been having a sensational 2021 year especially on clay but the Norwegian will not represent Norway at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Casper Ruud last played at the French Open where he lost in R3 and the Norwegian released a statement on his Facebook page addressing his participation at the Olympics. The World number 15 said:

"Many people are wondering about my Olympics participation, so here is an update from me. After the French Open, there have been a few days in the thinking box and after careful assessment with my team, we have come to the conclusion that there will be no Tokyo Olympics for me. I'm still pretty young and both believe and hope I can participate in more Olympics in my career.

The Norwegian further explained his goal will be the 2024 Olympics in Paris which will be played on his preferred surface - clay. He said:

"My focus will be participation in 2024 in Paris. I'll try to take new steps in the next few years so I can fight for the medals there. I wish all Norwegian participants good luck and hope for great Norwegian achievements."
