Novak Djokovic is quite a unique player according to
Chris Evert who had some strong words for the Serbian after watching him make history in Paris.
Evert was in the French capital as part of the Eurosport team for the event commenting on matches and she was there in person to watch the Serbian lift his 3rd Roland Garros trophy. It was his 23rd overall which is another record that he broke on that Sunday but certainly not the latest one he will.
It's been quite a season for Djokovic who is officially the best player in the world again. He's the number one rank again and he'll take that rank into Wimbledon where he'll be the top seed with a great chance to win grand slam number 24. Then he'll come very close to completing a calendar grand slam and it's just a never-ending success story with him.
Nobody like him
Evert has seen many champions in her life, she's been familiar with most of them for much of her life and yet she's still impressed by Novak Djokovic. So much so that the American and former legend of the game called Djokovic a unique player. Somebody she's never seen before in tennis:
"Over the past 50 years, I’ve seen and studied every champion in tennis. I have never seen anyone like Novak Djokovic. The combination of mental, physical, and emotional strength that goes into every shot is unmatched. Time to really appreciate this man."
It's very heavy praise from a fellow champion who knows what it takes and they are true words. Djokovic has proven himself over and over again and he's still going strong hoping for even more success and records. She called for more appreciation for the player as he's been widely underappreciated for much of his career.
