Dominic Thiem singled out Alcaraz, Sinner and Tiafoe as players that accelerated the game of tennis pointing out how much more aggressive they are compared to the big Three.
The Austrian player spoke at the Erste Bank Open Presentation ceremony after he lost earlier this week in Tel Aviv and he spoke about the old generation and the new generation. Thiem as a player between those two generations had the chance to play both and he said:
"Carlos Alcaraz, Sinner or Tiafoe, changed the game of tennis, accelerated it, raised it to a new level. Compared to them, the legendary three are or were almost defensive and cautious."
Thiem was also happy to see a pretty strong lineup for his home event but he also admitted that he doesn't see himself fighting for the trophy:
"The field is sensational but I'm competitive again, I've achieved that goal. I certainly don't see myself as a finalist. As soon as Vienna is over, I will look at the ranking, If necessary, I'll qualify at the Australian Open. I'm competitive again."
