Cruz Hewitt continues epic summer, sets up showpiece clash with Arthur Fery at Winston-Salem Open

Cruz Hewitt continues his epic summer with a stunning win to continue the Winston-Salem Open. He saw off Sebastian Gorzny whom he defeated 1-6, 7-6, 6-4 after two hours and two minutes of play. He will now face off against Arthur Fery, the British Wimbledon standout for a spot in the Last 16.
Hewitt had received a wildcard from the WInston-Salem Open and had been set to debut against Dino Prizmic. However the Croat withdrew at the last minute leaving him to debut against Gorzny who nearly gave him a scare after dominating the first set and having him firmly on the run in the second.
However, he massively improved as the match went on and ultimately secured his spot in the next round leaving a good impression in the process. The 17-year-old has made giant leaps in the past few months after reaching the junior final at Wimbledon. This led to the ATP 500 in Washington giving him a wildcard for qualifying. He entered the final draw and secured his first ATP win. However he soon lost to Alex de Minaur in the second round.
He reached the Quarter-Finals of an ITF tournament and was granted another wildcard, this time for the main draw. He is now ranked World No.352 in the live ATP ranking albeit if he continues on this tear, he could make a significant jump up the rankings.

At this age, the experience is the most vital thing and albeit he has got the opportunities as such due to his father's name, he continues to try and show that he is Cruz Hewitt and will get another excellent opportunity to prove himself when he faces off against Fery tomorrow in what is already being described as the tie of the day.
Fery of course shone at Wimbledon but this in itself adds a new modicum of pressure and against Hewitt who is seen as a future star, it could be a banana skin waiting to happen. One to certainly watch for sure.
