Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner through to Miami Open R3

Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner advanced quickly to the 3rd round of the Miami Open following strong victories on Friday.

The top seed at the Miami Open 2021 is Daniil Medvedev which is something he is not used to as it's his first time. Heading into the event he embraced it and said it was no pressure and it sure looked like it. His opponent Lu is way past his best days and it was not realistic to expect a good match from him.

Daniil made sure they played the game he liked it attacking Lu at every chance he got. On his own serve, he did not allow much and he quickly ended the first set with 6-2. The 2nd set was much better by Lu who even broke Medvedev once but the damage was already done and the Russian closed it out with 6-2.

Joining him in the next round will be Jannik Sinner who faced off against Hugo Gaston in a very quick match that lasted only 64 minutes. Both players like to keep points short but Sinner completely overwhelmed his opponent from the start. His baseline play was too strong and Gaston could not keep up.

The first set was won with 6-2 as well as the 2nd one for the young Italian who is looked impressive. His opponent was no realistic match so he will surely be more tested in the next round.
