Daniil Medvedev won yet another match in convincing fashion taking down Pablo Andujar 6-0 6-4 6-3.
The Russian is not to be denied at the
US Open as he continues to smash opponents en route to his goal of winning the event. The matchup was very good for Medvedev as Andujar lacks any weapons that could trouble Medvedev. He employed a very good combination superbly defending and attacking at the right time.
That combination proved extremely effective early on as he gifted Andujar a bagel to start. The Spaniard tried to outhit Medvedev but posted a 0-8 winner to error ratio. He consolidated his play in the 2nd set hitting his serve at a decent rate which gave him better looks.
He was able to keep Medvedev away from any bagel but still lost the set with 6-4. Once again it was an abysmal winner to error ratio of 7-18 that cost him the set. Andujar also failed to convert two break points he had. Medvedev continued playing well but not pushing too much. He played just enough to best Andujar.
Medvedev took an early break in the 4th set and did well to hold on to that advantage adding for the rest of the set. Andujar applied some pressure and was able to carve out chances but Medvedev held firm closing out the set with 6-3.
