Reilly Opelka was issued a large fine of 10,000 $ by US Open for what they called an 'unapproved bag' with Opelka joking in response that ticket prices must be low.
An interesting situation happened today in the aftermath of Opelka's win over Lorenzo Musetti yesterday. Opelka arrived at the court with a pink bag that appeared to violate one of the event rules. The rule states that additional equipment such as bags can't have logos that exceeded the limit of four inches.
The bag Opelka brought with him to the court had logos that was larger than that which violated the rule. In response, US Open issued Opelka a 10,000 $ fine calling the reason an 'unapproved bag'. The fine is a large one considering the reason but it officially violates the rule in place so it's justified.
In response, Opelka tweeted a picture of himself with the bag joking that ticket prices must be low considering the heavy fine. He wrote:
"US Open ticket sales must be struggling this year. 10k for a pink bag, at least it looked fly."
